Including North Andover High winning its historic Massachusetts Super 8 championship, a total of 25 high school teams throughout New England claimed state titles this year.
Among them, Connecticut Gatorade Player of the Year Chad Knight helped lead Staples to its second Connecticut Class LL state title in the past three years; Taunton edged Shrewsbury for its first Massachusetts Division 1 title, thanks to Evan Melo's squeeze bunt; and Bishop Hendricken rolled to its 22nd all-time championship in Rhode Island.
