The best time of the summer in New England baseball is here.
On Thursday, the Cape League Playoffs begin with four best-of-three divisional semifinal series, while the second NECBL finalist will be decided in a clash of Northern Division rivals. The NECBL champion could be crowned as early as Saturday in the event of a two-game sweep, the same result which produced the first title round contestant.
The Cape League’s divisional races both came down to the final day of the regular season on Wednesday. The top spot in the Futures League isn’t up for grabs, but there is still one more team to be filled in the playoff bracket.
