WORCESTER, Mass. -- A total of 37 MLB Draft prospects competed in the 15th annual Kelly Rodman Memorial Summer Rivalry Classic on Thursday at Polar Park.
The showcase event organized by MLB scouts featured many of New England’s top college and high school prospects, along with select players from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. The 37 players were split into two teams — New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox scout squads.
If history is any indication, the 2023 Summer Rivalry Classic will include at least a few future big-leaguers and first-round picks. In the 14 years of the event, 36 players have gone on to play in the Major Leagues. The number of first-round picks reached 28 with the selection of Matt Shaw in 2023.
