The Division 1 college baseball season has come to an end in New England.
Needing just two wins to return to the College World Series in Omaha for the first time since 1979, UConn’s postseason run ended following a valiant effort against Florida State and its vaunted lineup in the NCAA Super Regional in Tallahassee this past weekend. It was the Huskies’ second trip to a Super in three years.
The Huskies’ loss doesn’t mean that New England won’t be represented in the College World Series field. Three Omaha-bound clubs have regional natives contributing to their pitching staffs, while one other fell just one game short in Monday’s final Super Regional game.
