New England’s top high school prospects for the 2020 MLB draft are starting to emerge through the selection process for the most prestigious showcase events, which will take place later this summer.
Three showcase events in August are widely considered to include a collection of the top rising high school seniors. Those include:
* East Coast Pro Showcase, Aug. 1-4 (Hoover, Ala.)
* Area Code Games, Aug. 5-9 (Long Beach, Calif.)
* Summer Rivalry Classic, Aug. 22-23 (Boston, Mass.)
These three events historically offer prospects the opportunity to play in front of the largest pool of pro scouts, cross checkers and player representatives before next year’s draft. Future MLB stars such as Mike Trout, Rick Porcello, Bryce Harper and Marcus Stroman have played in the Area Code Games.
