One of the biggest surprises to come out of opening weekend of the college baseball season was the notable absence of Chris Galland (Sudbury, Mass.) from the Boston College roster.
A spokesman for the Boston College baseball team confirmed today that Galland is no longer enrolled at Boston College. Citing the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, he said the school would have no further comment.
Galland was expected to play a major role this season as a junior. He earned All-ACC Third Team honors as a freshman in 2018 after batting .316 with 36 runs scored and 28 stolen bases in 44 games. Galland had a fairly productive sophomore season at BC, hitting .267 in 57 starts. Over the last two seasons, he's impressed scouts with his speed, swiping 45 bags on 56 attempts.
Galland did not return for the spring semester in January after participating in BC's fall baseball activities. As of late January, the BC coaching staff still expected Galland to return to campus.
