A recent coaching change at Northwestern University has re-opened the college recruitment process for two incoming seniors at Avon Old Farms.
Reigning New Hampshire Gatorade State Player of the Year Aiden O'Connell and returning Avon Old Farms left-handed pitcher Alex Grant have jumped to the top of the list of uncommitted '24s in New England due to their decisions to decommit from Northwestern after the termination of Jim Foster as head coach.
Both O'Connell and Grant are currently fielding offers from Power Five programs from all over the country. O'Connell, who is entering a postgraduate year at Avon Old Farms after a four-year career at Bedford High (N.H.), has received offers from LSU, Vanderbilt, Duke, Boston College, Penn State, Kansas State and Virginia, among other programs. Grant has been in communication with coaches from Vanderbilt, Stanford, Duke, Michigan, Florida State, Notre Dame, South Carolina and LSU, among others.
O'Connell plans to make his decision after returning from the Area Code Games in mid-August.
