The New England Scorpions' talented '23 class of players is largely responsible for the program's affiliation with the Scorpions Baseball Club, based out of Orlando, Fla. Originally known as the Rhode Island Prospects, the Warren, R.I.-based squad took its Class of 2023 all-stars to a 2019 Perfect Game national showcase in West Palm Beach, Fla. The New England-based 14U squad played in a 15U tournament and came away with a championship.
"We actually played the Scorpions in the championship, and it was a match made in heaven," said New England Scorpions co-owner Cody Ortega. "We shared the same ideals of how the game should be taught to players. I grew up in Florida, so I was familiar with the Scorpions motto."
Three years later, the New England Scorpions have grown into one of New England's top travel programs, and the '23 class of athletes was ranked No. 1 among all New England travel programs by Perfect Game. Here's a look inside the program.
