Auburn, Mass., native Tyler Beede, 25, is back in Triple A with the Sacramento River Cats for the start of the season after a promising spring training with the San Francisco Giants.
Beede, a first-round selection in the 2014 MLB draft, spent the majority of the 2018 season at the Triple-A level, posting a 4-9 record with a 7.05 ERA, along with 56 walks and 75 strikeouts in 74 innings.
The Vanderbilt product worked on his arm action this offseason, which already is leading to more strikes. Beede also shelved his cutter, two-seamer and slider to focus on his three best pitches: fastball, curveball and changeup.
Beede recently joined New England Baseball Journal for a phone interview from spring training in Scottsdale, Ariz.
