Auburn, Mass., native Tyler Beede, 26, is putting the finishing touches on his rookie season as a big-leaguer with the San Francisco Giants.
The Lawrence Academy alumnus has had his ups and downs at the highest level of professional baseball this season, posting a 4-9 record with a 5.33 ERA in 21 appearances.
At the time of his interview with New England Baseball Journal, Beede had just picked up a win against the first-place Los Angeles Dodgers by pitching five scoreless innings — his second win in rival territory in Dodger Stadium. In two career starts there, Beede is 2-0 with a 0.82 ERA over 11 innings with 12 strikeouts.
Beede is next scheduled to start Friday night against the Miami Marlins, putting him into position to possibly start at Fenway Park next week when the Giants visit the Red Sox.
