A college baseball player’s main objective during the summer is to work on his craft — every single day, against the best of the best.
However, UConn head coach Jim Penders has another goal for rising sophomore pitcher Mason Feole (Wakefield, R.I.) and eight Huskies teammates spending this summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
"We want to see ‘W’s,’ the same things that the Wareham Gatemen want," Penders said. "All those summer league teams say, ‘Does he have an innings limit? What do you want to see him work on?’ Really, we want them in position to win as many wins and championships as they can."
Luckily for the Gatemen, Feole — the 2016 Rhode Island Gatorade Player of the Year and a Louisville Slugger All-American after his senior year at The Prout School — knows a thing or two about winning.
