College coaches will readily admit that one of the most difficult parts of the job is projecting how a high school freshman or sophomore will perform three or four years down the road. Nonetheless, it's an essential part of the job for recruiting purposes, especially now that more and more underclassmen receive and accept offers from recruiters of top programs.

If a college coach doesn't feel comfortable projecting that far in advance, he better feel comfortable with his own staff's ability to develop a player at the college level because he's going to miss out on most of the top high school prospects, who often commit to colleges by the end of their sophomore seasons.

Many of New England's top freshmen and sophomores have already committed to colleges, with many more expected to follow suit in the near future. While the baseball-playing world is on pause, the recruiting world keeps spinning.

Here are 10 of the top New England prospects expected to graduate high school in 2022 or 2023.
