Each summer, the East Coast Pro Showcase, Area Code Games and Perfect Game All-American Classic provide incoming high school seniors the opportunity to play in the most highly scouted showcase events of the year. Pro scouts select the rosters in hopes of identifying high school prospects who are worthy of selections in the following year's MLB Draft.
Players are chosen to compete in these elite showcases by the recommendation of regional MLB scouts. Scouts from the Northeast region typically host tryouts at various ballparks across the region in June and July. The East Coast Pro Showcase will take place from Aug. 2 to 5 at Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, Ala. The Area Code Games will take place Aug. 6 to 11 at the University of San Diego in Calif. The Perfect Game All-American Classic is scheduled for Aug. 28 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Ariz.
The Northeast rosters are comprised of players throughout New England, as well as states in the Northeast region like New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and a few others, depending on the event. In 2021, eight players from New England earned selections to the Area Code Games, five to the East Coast Pro Showcase, and one to the PG All-American Classic.
We take a look at 23 players who might be in consideration for elite showcase event rosters this summer.
