Some of New England's top high school prospects participated in the final Area Code Games tryout on Aug. 27 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.

The exhibition game against the Nashua Silver Knights of the Futures League marked the conclusion of a two-week process in which the top incoming seniors from New England, New York and New Jersey audition for the Northeast regional roster for some of the biggest national showcase events in the month of August.

The East Coast Pro Invitational is slated for Aug. 3 to 5 at the Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, Ala. The Area Code Games will take place Aug. 7 to 10 in Atlanta. The Summer Rivalry Classic will be held Aug. 19 at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford, Conn. A Prospects Showcase will also be held on Aug. 29 on Martha’s Vineyard.

Last night's exhibition was the fourth tryout since July 13. Other tryout locations included Brockton, Mass.; Hartford, Conn.; and Lynn, Mass. The coaching staff of the Northeast regional team includes New York Yankees Northeast area scout Matt Hyde, Boston Red Sox Northeast area scout Ray Fagnant and Northeast Scouting Supervisor for the Detroit Tigers Jim Bretz. They will be selecting the final rosters for the showcase events.
