With the 2021 high school and prep seasons on the horizon, it's exciting to think about how many new faces will grace the field this spring.
Not only will the Class of 2023 take the field for the first time after missing the 2020 season due to the pandemic, the Class of 2024 will also have a chance to make its mark at the prep and high school levels. While it is rare for freshmen to step in and contribute immediately, it's not unprecedented.
In fact, many of the players we included in our last two watch lists -- the top 25 prospects in the Class of 2023 and the top 20 prospects in the Class of 2022 -- contributed to their respective teams as freshmen.
Today, we take a look around New England to try to identify 20 freshmen who might contribute at the prep or high school level in 2021.
