The Futures Collegiate Baseball League is hoping to move forward with a plan to hold a 40-game summer season beginning in July. While rosters throughout the league are still being put together, there is sure to be an impressive collection of New England talent on display.
In just nine years of existence, the league has sent plenty of talent along the professional ranks. Its list of alumni includes a pair of Major League Baseball locals in Northeastern’s Aaron Civale (East Windsor, Conn.) and Boston College’s Chris Shaw (Lexington, Mass.).
Oklahoma pitcher Cade Cavalli played in the league in 2017 and has shot up draft boards to No. 22 on MLB.com’s Top 200 for this year’s MLB Draft, which begins Wednesday night.
As for the current Futures League, plenty of this year’s talent will be coming off draft boards going forward. Here is a look at some of the top 2021 draft-eligible players we’ll be tracking in the league this summer. This list is subject to change as rosters are still being constructed.
