The Brewster Whitecaps played on the grounds of Cape Cod Regional Technical High School in Harwich, Mass., when they last were Cape Cod Baseball League champions back in 2000. Entering this summer, they had not won even one playoff series since.
Fast forward to Aug. 13, 2017. Close to 5,000 people circled around the quaint field behind Brewster’s Stony Brook Elementary School as the Whitecaps captured their second-ever title, and after shortstop A.J. Graffanino (Washington) and first baseman Julian Infante (Vanderbilt) connected for the final out of a 2-0 win over Bourne, they were all sent into a frenzy.
