Brody Bumila announced his commitment to the University of Texas on Sunday, less than a month after visiting the campus for a Texas-sized recruiting trip.
Bumila, New England's top pitcher in the Class of 2026, caught the fever of big-time Texas athletics when Texas pitching coach Max Weiner greeted him off the plane. Bumila later attended a Texas football home game, and walked on the field before the No. 1 team in the nation posted a 56-7 victory over University of Texas San Antonio, with Arch Manning taking over in relief of an injured Quinn Ewers.
Bumila had a recruiting weekend at Wake Forest a week later and decided to narrow his list of seven schools to two -- with Texas and Wake Forest serving as the finalists.
"I had that feeling with Texas," Bumila said. "There's something about that school. Walking around the campus, there's a feeling you have. It feels like home. I felt a lot of pressure, but now I feel like, 'What pressure?' when it's the right school. I know I made the right choice."
