The marquee recruiting showcase of the fall season, the 18U Perfect Game WWBA World Championship, will be played Oct. 9 to 13 in Jupiter, Fla. Three New England-based teams — the Boston Red Sox Scout Team, NEB Rays National, and Clubhouse Evoshield – earned entries among the 121 teams from across the nation.
Power Four coaches flood the area to either get a look at their commitments or see if there are any late fits for their respective programs. Alongside them are Major League Baseball amateur scouts, scouring for potential high-round, high school draft picks.
The Show New England founder Steve Lomasney and Nor’Easter Runbirds director Tim Daneau helped turn Perfect Game Northeast into the Boston Red Sox Scout team four years ago. Lomasney selects his roster after factoring input from New York Yankees area scout Matt Hyde, Red Sox area scout Ray Fagnant, and numerous amateur events throughout the year.
Here’s a look at the New England prospects on the Red Sox Scout Team.
