Many of New England's top high school and prep prospects in the classes of '23 and '24 competed in one of Perfect Game's most prestigious showcase events -- the WWBA World Championships -- over the weekend.
The Red Sox Scout Team, comprised mostly of New England-based prospects, advanced to the Round of 32 before falling to the eventual tournament champion. North East Baseball and Baseball U Prospects also sent teams with New England representatives to the tournament.
The Red Sox Scout Team served as an 18U All-Star Team coached by Red Sox Northeast scouting director Ray Fagnant and Show New England director and former Sox prospect Steve Lomasney. The NEB squad, coached by Jeff Sullivan, had three players from Massachusetts and one from New Hampshire. The Baseball U Prospects included five players from Baseball U CT and three from Rhode Island.
