Some of the top high school prospects in New England are getting a chance to showcase their skills over the next two weeks at the Area Code Games tryouts. The tryout series started last night with an exhibition game between the Northeast's top high school prospects and the Brockton Rox of the Futures League.
The second tryout will take place July 14 in Hartford, Conn., with a few new faces representing the Northeast. The third will be July 20 at Fraser Field in Lynn, Mass. The fourth and final one will be July 27 at Holman Stadium in Nashua, N.H.
These tryouts will help a coaching staff comprised of several pro scouts decide on rosters for events like the East Coast Pro Invitational, Area Code Games and Summer Rivalry Classic. Those invitationals offer incoming seniors an opportunity to play in front of the largest pool of pro scouts, cross checkers and player representatives before next year’s MLB Draft.
The East Coast Pro Invitational is slated for Aug. 3 to 5 at the Hoover Met Complex in Hoover, Ala. The Area Code Games will take place Aug. 7 to 10 in Atlanta. The Summer Rivalry Classic will be held Aug. 21 to 23 in Cortland, N.Y.
