Jeff Trundy pulls off a unique pairing as a New England baseball coach, serving as the head coach of a prep program and a Cape League squad.
A longtime head coach at Frederick Gunn School (formerly The Gunnery School) and the Cape Cod Baseball League's Falmouth Commodores, Trundy is an indisputable baseball lifer.
"I do love the game,'' said Trundy. "To be in it this long, it would be crazy for me If I didn't. Being around the players and other people, whether it be at Frederick Gunn or with the Commodores, truly makes my day. They are the ones I look forward to seeing every day I come to the field. That hasn't changed in all these years. It always feels like I'm going out for recess and having a good time with the players.
"When I cross the (Sagamore) bridge coming into the Cape before the season, the first thing I think about is being able to see the people who have become dear friends. And when I leave after the season, I think about all of those same people.''
