The shock waves that Mike Gambino's departure from BC sent across the New England baseball environment reverberated today when Southern New Hampshire University coach Scott Loiseau resigned from his post to join Gambino's Penn State staff as an assistant.
D1Baseball editor Kendall Rogers broke the news on Twitter that Gambino has hired Loiseau along with Northeastern assistant coach Nick Puccio to join the Penn State staff. Loiseau's move from SNHU will leave a vacancy at New England's top D2 program since the coach's arrival in 2009.
Puccio's departure from Northeastern could eventually turn out to be no less impactful than Loiseau's resignation at SNHU, as Puccio's move as a five-year assistant at Northeastern could foreshadow a potential career change for head coach Mike Glavine, who is believed to be a top candidate for the BC vacancy.
Loiseau declined to comment on his move on Monday afternoon, as he planned to meet with his players shortly after the request from New England Baseball Journal.
