Chris Margraf continues to be one of the main staples in Independent School League coaching.
At Lawrence, Margraf is also assistant director of college counseling and a math teacher. Throughout his tenure at the Groton (Mass.) campus, Margraf has built Lawrence into a legitimate power on the baseball diamond. Dozens of his former players have gone on to play high level college baseball, with a few having continued their journey into professional ball.
Some of his former players include Tyler Beede, a 2014 first-round selection in the MLB Draft out of high school. Other notable Spartans who played under Margraf include Jonah Bayliss ( played in the Kansas City Royals, Pittsburgh Pirates and Toronto Blue Jays organizations), Joe Napolitano (New York Mets organization) and Max Meier, who is currently pitching for Stanford University.
In 2011, Lawrence finished a perfect 15-0, winning the ISL crown. That milestone marked only the third time a team from ISL has gone undefeated. But such accolades remain on Margraf's back-burner, as he is more concerned about preparing his players for future endeavors.
