The final week of the MIAA Baseball regular season is here. Across the state, teams are preparing for the state tournament and, in many cases, choosing between keeping guys healthy and making a push for a higher postseason seed. For the first time this year, Franklin has a number other than '0' in the loss column as Bridgewater-Raynham scored three in the seventh on Sunday night to hand the Panthers their first loss.
Despite the defeat, our top three teams remain the same with all three a cut above the rest when it comes to consistency throughout the regular season. Central Catholic, meanwhile, receives its highest season ranking to date while defending Division 2 champion Milton rounds out our top five. Elsewhere, Weymouth followed up its entrance into our rankings last week with a surge up the board this week.
Just on the outside are a slew of teams making a strong push as the state tournament approaches. Division 3 contender Oakmont picked up an impressive road win over Foxboro on Saturday, while Taconic and Medfield are both in postseason form.
As June approaches, Xaverian is quickly becoming a team to watch. Gerry Lambert's group has won 10 of 11 and clinched the Catholic Conference title with a walk-off win over BC High on Wednesday. Here is our week eight MIAA Baseball Top 10. All records are reflected through results on Sunday, May 21.
