Christian Oliveira has asserted himself as one of the elite prep right-handed pitchers and shortstops in the Northeast.
Now clocking fastball velocity in the mid-90s this preason, the Govs' senior is generating interest from MLB scouts, according to head coach James Cramphin.
"His physical development is the one thing that jumps off the page to me,'' said Cramphin. "He has a pro body and is a grown man physically. He is going to be an imposing figure on the mound this year as he has really grown out. He is every bit 6 foot 4, 205 pounds with big legs. He looks the part and passes the eye test in terms of being a major Division 1 college prospect and future professional. Christian is also someone who means what he says. When you see that in a high school kid, it is fun to work with a person like that."
Cramphin cites Oliveira's tenacity inside the weight room as being a key component in his overall production as a two-way player. What separates Oliveira from others is his mental approach, as he is considered a "true student" of the game.
