
The offers poured in for Oisin Lee's services over the spring and summer months. Big-time college baseball programs, including LSU, North Carolina, Wake Forest, Duke and Virginia Tech had the St. Mark's School '24 well in their sights.
And why not? Lee is a gifted, right-handed pitcher. Standing 6-foot-6 and 190 pounds, Lee is armed with a fastball that sits in the 87- to 92-mph range. He also has a wipe-out slider to go with a change-up.
Lee's first introduction to scouts as a top prospect came in the Area Code Underclass Games held in San Diego. He spoke with one of his teammates, Calder Glassman, a strong, junior right-handed pitcher from Poly Prep Country Day School (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who made his commitment to Notre Dame.
"I told Calder I was pretty close to making my commitment unless somehow Notre Dame were to come into the picture,'' said Lee. "Calder luckily had a call set up with (Notre Dame pitching coach) Seth Voltz. The next day, Coach Voltz got in contact with me, and we started talking every day.
