Deerfield Academy baseball is getting a facelift.
With the construction of a temporary dining hall being raised beyond the centerfield and rightfield area of the Big Green's primary Headmaster's Field, the decision was made to install a synthetic turf baseball field in another area of the school's scenic 330-acre campus. The program will utilize the new facility regularly over the next two years.
The team will then return to Headmaster's Field (a grass facility) in 2026, and will use the turf facility on various occasions for practices and/or games during bad weather days or when preparing for an away opponent who plays on a turf field.
As of now, the turf facility will be utilized exclusively for baseball. It will cover approximately 150,000 square feet, making it a full-size baseball facility. There will also be space available for a full-size soccer field if needed.
