Two prep programs riding season-opening winning streaks saw them end this week, a reminder that in prep school baseball, any given team can win on any given day. And those wins often can act like a springboard and start streaks of their own.
Noble & Greenough and Lawrence Academy each had the right stuff to topple two of the region’s more-dominant programs, Roxbury Latin (5-1) and Winchendon School (7-1).
Nobles (2-3) rode the arm of senior pitcher Jack Schwartz during a 10-0 triumph over the Foxes. Schwartz tossed a five-inning, mercy-ruled no-hitter. The Tufts University commit needed just 55 pitches to complete the job.“
Jack was in control right from the get-go,” Bulldogs coach Rob Murray said. “He hit every spot and controlled every pitch I called. It was like playing a video game. You have to be very careful with a lineup like Roxbury Latin’s. If you miss your location, they will make you pay for it.”
