Andrew Rondini has been a busy young man since his prep career at the Canterbury School came to an end back in May.
The New Milford, Conn., native enjoyed a fine senior season on the mound for Todd Mathewson’s Saints, going 5-1 with a 1.84 ERA and 60 strikeouts across 38 innings for a team that fell just one run short to Salisbury for the WNEPBL championship. Rondini pitched a one-hit complete game in the semifinal round of the playoffs against Williston Northampton.
However, Rondini’s baseball exploits haven’t stopped since the end of his All-New England spring. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound righty put together three outstanding starts at the beginning of the Futures League season for the Norwich Sea Unicorns.
Oh, and he set up a new college commitment to Rutgers after Mike McRae -- who initially recruited him to William & Mary -- became the Scarlet Knights’ pitching coach. Mathewson breaks down the game of his now-former ace and offers his take on his future at the collegiate level in NEBJ’s latest “Prospect Watch” feature.
