New England baseball fans woke up to a familiar face in the top spot of ESPN SportsCenter's top 10 plays this morning.
St. John's Prep and Northeastern alumnus Max Burt (North Andover, Mass.) earned today's No. 1 play after scoring the game-winning run in the Somerset Patriots' victory over the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in a Double-A Eastern League matchup.
Burt advanced from third on a pitch in the dirt, only to see the catcher gather the ball quickly and beat him to the plate. The former three-sport St. John's Prep standout avoided the tag with a swim move, an athletic play that ultimately got prime billing on SportsCenter.
Here's a look at the highlight as well as Burt's explanation.
